Fruit + Safety = Nutrition

If you follow me on Twitter you may remember my tweets about bringing my lunch to work only to find a bruised banana when it came time to eat. Well you may also remember me going out and buying a banana guard, or as Kitchen Stuff Plus calls it, a “Silo Plastic Banana Container“, out of desperation.

I think I bought it sometime in late August and I haven’t had a bruised banana since!

As the title says: FRUIT + SAFETY = NUTRITION

If you’re a frequent transit taker who constantly experiences bruised fruit, then I highly recommend you picking this one up! If you’re not a banana fan, there’s this site that offers guards for the fruit of your choice.

P.S. Don’t think I didn’t notice all the “That’s what she said” jokes. I mean come on now…

    And what if the banana isn’t the appropriate shape? If it bend more, or less, than the average banana? :p

      Thanks for the comment Margot!

      I haven’t run into that issue yet, though I expected too. The only thing I’ve ever had to do was cut the stem part if they’re too long, otherwise they’re pretty malleable and fit with slight contortions.

    Oh my god! I have one of these and am embarassed to bring it to the office. At my old job, I left it on my desk once and got a lot of puzzled/condescending looks. I’m afraid t’s purpose is not immediatley recognized!

    As for Margot’s comment, she’s right. This is not a one size fits all product. Some bananas just don’t fit. Those are the eat-at-home ones 🙂
