Short recap of the Golden Globes

While Dexter will have to settle with being my top TV show for 2009, it’s much deserving star Michael C. Hall won his first Golden Globe last night, along with John Lithgow who snagged his 2nd. Following the twitter stream last night, it looked as though many didn’t know why Hall was sporting his cap last night. For those not in the loop, he’s in remission from battling Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. I’d only found out about it earlier in the afternoon and while sad, it’s great to see he’s recovering. Hall and Lithgow gave tremendous performances this past season on Dexter, vaulting it way past the mess that was season four (sorry Jimmy Smits). Hopefully this marks the beginning of further recognition for the show, which failed to win the award for Best TV Drama (went to MadMen, my 2nd favourite show of the year, for the 3rd year in a row). I can’t wait to see Trinity return for a second season. It’s just too bad that’s so many months away…

Other notable congrats go out to:

The Hangover – Best Comedy/Musical (My #1 movie of 2009)

UP – Best Animated Film (My #2 movie of 2009)

Glee – Best TV Comedy/Musical

Jason Reitman – Best Screenplay for Up in the Air
